Course Content

How are the courses organized?

Corwin Advance courses are comprised of 11 modules and a Capstone module. All of the resources needed for an engaging learning experience are provided within the course:

  • Clear objectives
  • Digital eBook content, articles, and other readings
  • Video of experts and practitioners applying the course content to schools and classrooms
  • Discussion Forums allowing collaboration with peers in an online professional learning community
  • Quizzes that allow you to ensure you understand the module just completed before moving on to the next module
  • Activities so you can immediately apply new learning to your professional practice
  • A final Capstone assignment to connect all of your learning into a cohesive action plan

Can I make copies of the course materials?

The course material is meant for one user. You can download, save, and print the course material for your personal use, but you cannot share this material with others unless they are also enrolled in the course.

 

Facilitators

Are the courses facilitated?

Yes, you will receive grades and feedback from your facilitator as you move through the course. You may also reach out to your facilitator with any questions about the course content or assignments.

How do I communicate with my facilitator?

If you have any questions, you may contact your facilitator via the Canvas inbox. Simply click the inbox icon within Canvas and compose a new message. Your facilitator will respond within 1 business day.

 

Grading

Do I need to upload my assignments for someone to grade?

All projects and the final capstone assignment need to be uploaded in order for your facilitator to review and grade them.

How long will it take to receive my grades/feedback?

All projects will be graded within four business days of when you submitted them for grading.

Do I get a grade once I complete the course?

Yes, you will receive a final grade after you have completed all of the module quizzes, projects, and final capstone assignment.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes, a certificate will be sent to you via Canvas in conjunction with your final capstone grade. To be sure you are notified when the certificate is sent, please be sure to configure your Canvas notifications within your profile.

How do I know if my district will accept these PD hours?

While we cannot guarantee district approval, we can provide you with syllabi and other supporting documentation to submit for pre-approval from your district for our courses.

I see on your course pages it says “credit,” can I obtain graduate credit for a Corwin Advance course?

Eventually all Corwin Advance courses will be eligible for graduate credit, however during this limited-time Fall Preview Program we will not be offering graduate credit. All courses will be offered for continuing education units/clock hours, with a Certificate of Completion awarded upon successful completion of the course.

When will Corwin Advance courses be eligible for graduate credit?

We are offering a limited set of courses and content during our Fall Preview Program. If you are interested in taking a Corwin Advance course for graduate credit email us at advancesupport@corwin.com and we will keep you posted!

 

Course Access

How long do I have to finish a course?

You have one year to complete a course once you are enrolled. The course is entirely self-paced and may be completed at your own pace during your access period.
